Performance Contractors is proud to announce another year of recognition at the ABC Excellence in Construction (EIC) Awards, taking home five project awards across three categories—including a rare national Design-Build honor—along with a company-wide Safety Merit Award and the ABC National Young Professional of the Year title. From complex industrial scopes to craft-level excellence, this year's recognition is a testament to what the Performance team delivers every day: exceptional work, built better.
Eagle Awards
ABC's highest honor for construction excellence, the Eagle Award recognizes projects that represent the best in the industry. This year, Performance earned three.
- Dow Steam Header Compliance Project: A technically demanding compliance-driven scope executed with the precision and professionalism that Performance teams are known for. This project also received a Productivity Award, a special recognition given to select Eagle Award winners who use innovative productivity methods to achieve project success.
- ExxonMobil BOPX-H Furnace Project: A first-of-its-kind EPC delivery model that brought construction-driven thinking to every phase. Additionally, this project won a Design-Build Award reserved only for Eagle recipients.
- Venture Global Plaquemines LNG Fabrication, Assembly, & Site Installation Project: A large-scale, multi-phase scope executed with the coordination and craftsmanship that only comes from a team that's truly dialed in.
Pyramid Awards
The Pyramid Award recognizes construction projects of outstanding quality and execution. Performance earned two this year:
Design-Build Award
Presented through ABC's partnership with the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA), this recognition is reserved for Eagle Award winners who demonstrate exceptional design-build execution.
- ExxonMobil BOPX-H Furnace Project: Selected as one of only three national recipients of the Design-Build Award, the judges made it clear why this project stood out:
"The BOPX-H Furnace Project touches all the bases when it comes to project success. The Performance Contractors team used innovative techniques to deliver schedule savings, cost savings, and improved productivity. The design-build project was completed safely with zero recordables, met high quality standards, stayed within budget, and was delivered ahead of schedule — successfully achieving all key objectives and serving as a model for design-build project execution. The Performance Contractors team met the challenge and earned a DBIA award."
Safety Merit Award
Performance’s commitment to a culture of safety earned the 2025 ABC Safety Merit Award, recognizing the company’s excellence in maintaining safe, high-quality operations across all projects.
National Young Professional of the Year
Nyoki Mokeba, our Director of Equipment Sourcing, was named ABC National Young Professional of the Year. This honor recognizes individuals under 40 who demonstrate leadership, career achievement, and a vision for the future of commercial and industrial construction.
Nyoki's path to this recognition is a reflection of genuine dedication—to his craft, to his colleagues, and to the future of this industry. We're proud to have him building that future with us.
ABC National Craft Championship
In addition to these awards, we showed our commitment to developing the next generation of skilled construction professionals by sending eight talented competitors to ABC's National Craft Championship, one of the most prestigious craft skills competitions in the industry. Competing at this level is an achievement in its own right, and each of these individuals represents the skilled craft excellence that defines Performance Contractors:
- Zachary Fuller – TIG Welding
- Jefferson Ricketts – Stick Pipe Welding
- Ian Garber – Structural Welding
- Micah Thames – Pipefitting
- Stanley Gonsoulin – Instrumentation Fitting
- Larissa Villarreal – Electrical
- Tanner Zimmerhanzel – Millwright
- Treylon Jackson – Stick Pipe Welding
We're proud to have them represent Performance on the national stage.
Awards like these don't happen in a vacuum. They're the result of every person who showed up—from the craft professionals in the field to the project managers, safety professionals, and support staff behind the scenes. Performance builds better because its people are committed to being better. This year's recognition is theirs.
