Highlighting Our Veterans: Trent Lambert

For Trent Lambert, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps was about discipline, growth, and taking on challenges headfirst. Born in Bedford, Texas, and raised in North Richland Hills, he became the first in his family to serve, spending six years in uniform—five on active duty and one in the reserves—before transitioning into industrial construction.

Commissioned through Officer Candidate School in Quantico, Virginia, Trent rose to the rank of Captain and served as a Ground Supply Officer. Early in his career, he was tasked with establishing an account system for a rapidly expanding unit—something his training hadn’t covered. “While training focused on managing existing accounts, I had to learn how to create one from the ground up,” he recalled. The experience sharpened his problem-solving and conflict resolution skills, lessons that continue to serve him well today.

When it came time to transition out of active duty, Trent connected with Performance Contractors through a family friend. Impressed by the company’s reputation for supporting veterans, he joined the team and quickly made an impact. After proving himself by taking on any task during training, he was recommended for his current role as IRA Compliance Manager on a major project.

For Trent, the industrial construction field feels like a natural fit. “The industrial construction field shares a similar structure to the military, with jobsite roles easily comparable to military ranks,” he noted. “The fast-paced, dynamic environment of construction sites feels seamless with the tempo I experienced during active duty.”

The leadership lessons from both environments reinforce each other. “Both the military and Performance have put me in positions where I must coordinate with cross-functional teams, enforce standards, and speak in front of crowds,” Trent said. “If you’re going to lead, you have to set the example, so it pushes you to better yourself in every way you can.”

Trent credits Performance’s strong mentorship culture for helping him succeed in this new field. Leaders like Corporate Training Director Kenny Derouen provided guidance not only on technical training but also on navigating the company and industry. “Having integrity and discipline simplifies the decision-making process every time,” Trent added.

Now based in Beaumont during the week and Pearland on weekends, Trent balances his career with family life alongside his wife and their two young daughters. With a toddler and newborn at home, spare time is rare, but he wouldn’t trade it for anything.

To fellow veterans considering a career at Performance, Trent offers straightforward advice: “Approach the job with humility, be willing to learn from the ground up, and stay proactive. If you put in the effort, you’ll earn opportunities and leadership roles quickly.”

We’re proud to honor Trent’s service and grateful for the example he sets every day at Performance.
