On Friday, May 19, 2023, Performance Contractors attended the 36th Annual Safety Excellence Awards (SEA) presented by the Houston Business Roundtable (HBR) and the Health and Safety Council (HASC). The program is an annual recognition for contractors and subcontractors in the Texas Gulf Coast Area who have achieved an outstanding record of on-the-job safety promotion and performance at a site or as a business during the year. By recognizing these “Best-in-Class Safety performers,” these awards benefit the entire industry to help adopt and champion best practices.
The event – highlighting the industry-best safety recognition program – brings together companies from the chemical, refining, and energy industries operating on the Gulf Coast. These are companies who have cooperative and collaborative relationships with contract companies to improve on-site safety, reduce accidents, and, most importantly, reduce injuries to personnel on their sites. With more than 1,600 people in attendance, the event hosted site owners, safety organizations and all the various contractors who worked those sites. At the event, Performance was selected for Best-in-Class in the General Contractor - Large category.
To decide which companies represent the pinnacle of safety in the Texas Gulf Coast Area, volunteer auditors from contractors and clients alike assess each entrant’s policies and procedures. The audit team attends a scheduled audit for each contractor nominated for their specific category, giving each contractor the opportunity to show their best practices. Contractors are scored according to their performance across a multitude of safety topics.
