Monsanto Company Agricultural Group

The EA-1211 Conventional Technology-3 Project at Monsanto Company’s Luling Plant was an intense project which upon completion, greatly enhanced the production capability for one of Monsanto’s most critical products, ROUNDUP HERBICIDE. Monsanto’s production capabilities and market position with a premium product were dependent upon the completion of this project per the initial schedule. As a result of a strong team effort between Monsanto and Performance Contractors, the EA 1211 CT-3 Project was producing Roundup Herbicide as per the schedule.

BASF Corporation


The Aniline/MNB II Project was an extremely critical project for one of the largest producers of Aniline in the world today. This project was driven by global competition in a marketplace that requires the strictest adherence to cost and schedule. Performance Contractors was the chosen partner of BASF Corporation for this demanding project. Performance Contractors successfully completed the partnership and execution of the project – constructability and field execution was completed in 16 months, ahead of schedule and under BASF’s preliminary budget. This was achieved with ZERO OSHA incidents
of any kind.

Chevron Phillips Chemical Company, LP

The Styrene Modernization Project (SM1) at Chevron Phillips’ St. James, Louisiana, Facility was a project that created tremendous logistical challenge from an execution standpoint. Performance Contractors successfully completed this $41,000,000 project providing the facility with one of the world’s most efficient Styrene Production units which was highlighted by the erection of a 256’/914 ton Recycle Column. The most notable accomplishment of the SM1 Project was the ability of Performance Contractors to expend 550,000 direct man-hours and incur NO OSHA Recordable Injuiries.

The Dow Chemical Company

The Mayflower Project was a “Grass-Root” project that totaled 1,300,000 manhours. As Construction Manager/General Contractor, Performance Contractors was responsible for total project execution along with subcontractor selection and management. Performance Contractors self-performed 80% of the Mayflower Project with 20% being subcontracted for specialty needs. The Mayflower Project set the industry standard for safety, quality and schedule. This project was executed with ZERO OSHA Recordables. All this success was achieved on a project that was completed twenty months ahead of schedule.

ExxonMobil Chemical Company

ExxonMobil’s ECLA-W “C” Furnace Project at the Baton Rouge Chemical Plant created extreme challenge from the outset of engineering and design through erection on-site. This project was bid and executed directly for AGRA Birwelco Limited of London. The “C” Furnace Project encompassed the construction and installation of an Ethylene Cracking Furnace. This furnace project was extremely critical to ExxonMobil in their attempt to market Ethylene to their customers worldwide as well as for its use as feedstock in the production of other chemicals at their Baton Rouge facility. Performance Contractors is pleased to have successfully completed such a high profile project for ExxonMobil under budget and prior to the deadline date that had been established for Ethylene production.

ExxonMobil

ExxonMobil’s Low-Sulfur Mogas Project was an environmentally mandated project that presented an ironclad completion date in order to satisfy national compliance restrictions for the Baton Rouge Refinery. Performance Contractors, Inc. was awarded the Major Mechanical Contract and successfully completed the project of 875,000 manhours with no OSHA incidents. A strong on-site organization combined with qualified craftsmen executed the plan and completed this project per the government mandate allowing the world’s largest refinery to maintain production of gasoline in 2004 and beyond.

ExxonMobil Chemical Company

The CO Furnace Project consisted of demolition of an existing operating plant within the Exxon Refinery followed by “Grass-Root” construction of two CO Furnaces. These furnaces consisted of a Combustion Chamber and Convection Section along with Associated Equipment, Steam Drum, Soot Blowers, Burner Management System, Circulation Pump, Combustion Air Blowers, Associated Ducting, Piping and Instrumentation. There were 68 critical lifts executed during the project. Many of these lifts exceeded 100 Tons in weight and required the maximum 440-foot radius of the 1200-Ton Crane utilized for this portion of the project. Exxon concluded that the initial construction budget was reduced by 16% and the overall schedule was reduced by 22% due to the input received by Performance Contractors Management Team.

Marathon Ashland Petroleum, LLC

Marathon Ashland Petroleum, LLC Fluid Catalytic Cracking Unit (FCCU) Expansion Project at the Garyville, LA, refinery was a unique project combining various types of industrial construction and contract types. Performance Contractors was awarded the entire project. The FCCU is the heartbeat of the refinery. The project consisted of a major revamp to the existing FCCU facility with a critical plant shutdown. Performance Contractors completed this project with zero recordables, zero leaks, beat the schedule, saved 10% on productivity, and zero plant interruptions.

Rubicon, Inc.

The Pure MDI III Splitter Project called for construction of a new unit at Rubicon that would purify MDI, the main product at this facility, to a level not achieved at most MDI production facilities throughout the world. Performance Contractors is proud of the success that was achieved on this project. A tremendously challenging project was successfully executed and completed ahead of schedule with ZERO OSHA incidents while also being completed at a cost 20% below Rubicon’s budgeted amount.

Rubicon, Inc. Zipper

Huntsman Polyurethanes Project Zipper was an extremely critical project and major investment for the Rubicon facility in Geismar, LA. Project Zipper was a $174,000,000 project where the owner changed contractors at the midpoint of the contract to ensure project control and on-time completion and to escape ever-increasing cost escalation. Huntsman Polyurethanes and Performance Contractors came together as true industry partners to successfully complete Project Zipper allowing Huntsman Polyurethanes to satisfy consumer demand of MDI to its customers throughout
the world.
